About

Established in 2004

Our History

A Place of Faith, Solidarity and Hope.

The San Lorenzo Community is a people’s-based non-profit, solidarity, faith, arts and educational organization legally established in Toronto, Ontario in 2004 to bridge the gap between Latin Americans residing in Ontario and Canadians through the language of trust, spiritual harmony, heritage, cookery, dance and music.

The Community is located at the intersections of Dufferin Street and Wenderly Drive (Dufferin St. And Lawrence Ave. W – North York, ON), and it offers to the public a varied menu of Spanish and English language programming.

Our Mission

To empower the cohesive development of the Spanish speaking community of Toronto, by providing opportunities for promoting cultural heritage and fostering the understanding and respect for diverse cultural roots through the provision of programs to assist and support newcomers to Toronto.

Our Vision

That one day, all Latin American immigrants coming to Canada receive the benefits of an effective support system to ease their transition into the Canadian way of life; so that we may collectively recognize and respect human diversity and build the capacity to sustain social inclusion and social equity.

Our Values

The San Lorenzo Community remains open to all and it is committed to inclusiveness, respecting the diversity of the individuals and the communities we assist.

Our organization recognizes the meaning of solidarity; thus, our motto is: Today for you, tomorrow for you and always for you.

We promote a benign gathering place and safe environment for individuals and groups of any ethnicity to engage with our community.

The San Lorenzo Community offers meaningful learning opportunities for both children and adults. We are dedicated to restore and display our cultural traditions and actively absorb new and multicultural values.

We seek through solidarity the opportunity to better ourselves, our communities, Latin America, and the world.
